The marinade is done before you get home. Your job is the potatoes and a hot pan.
From the shop
Ask at the counter for enough red wine steak for four people. It comes already marinated, so it goes straight onto the heat.
The steak is already marinated. Taste it before you add salt or a sauce. A strong sauce fights the marinade.
Ingredients
- Red wine steak for four
- 750 g baby potatoes, halved
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt, for the potatoes
- 300 g green beans, trimmed
Method
- Heat the oven to 200°C. Toss the potatoes with the oil, garlic and salt on a lined tray.
- Roast the potatoes for 35 minutes, until crisp and golden. Turn them once halfway.
- When the potatoes have 15 minutes left, heat a barbecue or heavy frying pan to medium-high.
- Cook the steaks for 3 to 4 minutes a side for medium rare. Give thicker steaks 1 minute more a side.
- Do not add salt or extra seasoning to the steak. The marinade already carries the flavour.
- Rest the steaks for 5 minutes on a warm plate. Boil the beans for 4 minutes while the steaks rest.
Serve it
Serve the steaks with the garlic potatoes and beans. Pour the resting juices over the steak.
