One loaf, one oven and a pot of mash. Dinner for four with very little hands-on work.
From the shop
Start with one meatloaf; it is sold each as a 1 kg loaf. One loaf feeds four.
Rest the meatloaf for 10 minutes before you slice it. The slices then hold together. Use a sharp knife and cut with long strokes.

Method
- Heat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking dish with baking paper. Put the meatloaf in the centre of the dish.
- Bake for 60 minutes. Push a thermometer into the centre of the loaf. It must read 75°C. If it does not, bake for 10 minutes more and check again.
- While the meatloaf bakes, put the potatoes in a pot of cold salted water. Boil for 20 minutes, until a knife slides through.
- Drain the potatoes. Mash them with the butter and enough warm milk to make them smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Boil the beans for 4 minutes. Heat the gravy in a small pan.
- Rest the meatloaf for 10 minutes on a board. Cut it into slices about 2 cm thick.
Serve it
Serve the slices on the mash with the beans. Pour the hot gravy over the top.
